What
does Beginner/Advanced Beginner/Intermediate sewing level mean?
Beginner:
Anywhere from 'I've never
even touched a sewing machine before' to 'I have sewn a little bit many
years ago and can attempt to sew a straight line'.
Advanced Beginner: Someone who is familiar with their sewing machine (or a sewing machine) and has worked on and/or completed a project or two on their own or under the supervision of an instructor in a sewing class. If you've taken our beginner lesson or class you're an Advanced Beginner.
Intermediate: Someone who has been sewing for some time on their own or by taking classes and is very familiar with their own sewing machine. An intermediate sewer has a grasp on the basics of sewing and is familiar with handling fabric and small projects and is interested in learning more advanced sewing techniques such as making button holes, zippers, making clothing, and reading and following commercial patterns.
**These definitions are merely an attempt to help differentiate between levels of sewing skill. It is meant to help decide which classes are appropriate for each individual. There is room for interpretation. If you still cannot decide where you fall and/or if a certain project is "right" for you please feel free to email and ask me.
How
do I know what to bring with me to the lesson?
When you sign up for a lesson a materials
list will be sent to you via email (or over the phone if you don't have
an email account).
Do
you give private sewing lessons at people's houses?
No I don't - sorry. All lesson are taught
at my place in Culver City. By reducing travel time I can fit more lessons
in everyday.
